Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Aguerre, Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay, in Beijing on Oct. 18, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on furthering agricultural cooperation between China and Uruguay.
At the meeting, Minister Han spoke highly of the achievements in bilateral agricultural cooperation, noting that the two countries are highly complementary in agriculture and enjoy great potential for further cooperation. China will continue to strengthen cooperation and communication with Uruguay in agricultural S&T, animal health, livestock and veterinary services, fisheries as well as agricultural trade and investment, to make greater progress.
Mr. Aguerre said that China is Uruguay's largest trading partner now. The Uruguayan side highly values the cooperation with China and appreciates China's support for Uruguay's agricultural development. Uruguay is ready to boost the bilateral cooperation in agricultural irrigation and sustainable agricultural development, and consolidate the friendly relations between the two countries.
